I was reading this article in latest issue of Times while I was taking lunch. The title is ‘Bye Bye, Love’ by Tiffany Sharples.

Divorce is sad. But some folks are finding humor – and profit – in it.
The whole article was about how Angie Schmidt’s 7-year marriage ended, who doesn’t think it is a laugh, but then she thought an idea of creating a business out of it. Last September, she started an online store – smashingkatie.com, which then was flooded with orders by holidays.

Products from greeting cards and post-breakup getaway packages to custom-made cakes and joke gifts like wedding-ring coffins. (My oh my, I wouldn’t be delighted if I’m divorced and getting all these cranky stuff…But, I wouldn’t want a divorce btw, I mean marriage is suppose to be something beautiful between two souls of God). Oh here’s another part, they even have custom-made cakes whereby the bakers are asked to come up with fanciful designs that give new meaning. Some designs feature scenarios like a bride kicking her former groom down the tiers of the cake.
I find it entertaining as in it’s really ridiculous and humour at one sense, but was feeling sad in the end. Because I realised the world is turning into a monstrous world, you know – with wars, political issues over power, money issues, or even now marriage. God gave us the world with so many wonderful stuff but we, human turned them all upside down into our own desires and will.
Gen. 2:18, 21-24
(NIV)
The Lord God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him’…and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, ‘This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.’ For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.
Here we see the first wedding. We can conclude from this account in Genesis that marriage is God’s idea, designed and instituted by the Creator. In these verses we also discover that at the heart of God’s design for marriage is companionship and intimacy.
What Does the Bible Say?
• Marriage was designed for companionship and intimacy.
See, marriage is supposed to be something holy and I say, a gift from God to be with your another half. Why marry to one another when you don’t see the future of being together and ended up in a divorce? Well, maybe there are factors that will lead to it which are unforeseeable at the moment, but still…hmm…I think I’ve opinionated much on this issue. Anyway,my purpose is just to share what I’ve read.
